my "sakinah"

Menangis tadi ketika berdoa. "Terima kasih ya Allah kerana Engkau telah memberi ku peluang untuk berjumpa dengan keluargaku, walaupun sekejap. Dan aku bersyukur untuk masih memiliki keluarga yang sihat dan saling sayang-menyayangi."
My heart is at ease when seeing them all perfect and well, without any reservations. They reaffirm my purpose of being here, teaching. To make them proud and to serve others. I can't wait to get my first pay, so I can spoil them rotten. Though not much, but the looks that will be displayed on their faces when experiencing it are surely to be priceless, and can possibly make me the happiest person alive.
Alhamdulillah ya Allah.

Assalamualaikum! After a week in breezy, windy, cold UK, I'm back in sweltering Malaysia. I can feel the vast temperature difference. I have no idea how my friend there will adjust herself here when she gets back because even at 21 degrees during her recent holiday in Italy, she felt it was too hot that she went back to her hotel to take a shower! Anyway, my holiday in Manchester and London was how I imagined it would be. Eccentric natives and their fashion sense, tiptop politeness, lovely weather, and wonderful companion!
Fro!
Our last picture sobs.
Eating fish&chips. It's quite the staple meal there.
Us minus Jwa in Old Trafford. I'll never forget this.
Went to see my crazy cousins staying in London,
Went to see my crazy cousins staying in London,
And not to forget. This. Yes, that building that says "Primark".
Me and my sisters went crazy in there! Everything was affordable. Yes, the UK pound is equivalent to RM5, but they sold sunglasses and bags for 3 pounds and they're so nice! But the sad thing is, Primark is situated only in the UK, so yes, another visit is a must. Bought quite a handful of items so no more online shopping for me. For now..
I wish I could go again. Probably in a few years' time? On my own? Or with someone? I don't know but I'll definitely give it another visit :) And no, not because of Primark.

Got this at yet another note posted by my friend on Facebook. :)
Are your palms sweaty, is your heart racing and is your voice caught within
your chest?
-it isn’t love, it’s like.
You can't keep your eyes or hands off of them, am I right?
-it isn’t love, it’s lust.
Are you proud, and eager to show them off?
- it isn’t love, it’s pride.
Do you want them because you know they`re there?
-it isn’t love, it’s loneliness.
Are you there because it`s what everyone wants?
-it isn’t love, it’s loyalty.
Are you there because they kissed you, or held your hand?
-it isn’t love, it’s low confidence.
Do you stay for their confessions of love, because you don`t want to hurt
them?
-it isn’t love, it’s pity.
Do you belong to them because their sight makes your heart skip a beat?
-it isn’t love, it’s infatuation.
Do you pardon their faults because you care about them?
-it isn’t love, it’s friendship.
Do you tell them every day that they are the only one you think of?
-it isn’t love, it’s a lie.
Are you willing to give all of your favorite things for their sake?
-it isn’t love, it’s charity.
Does your heart ache and break when they`re sad?
-then it’s love.
Do you cry for their pain, even when they`re strong?
-then it’s love.
Do their eyes see your true heart, and touch your soul so deeply it hurts?
-then it’s love.
Do you stay because a blinding, incomprehensible mix of pain and
relation pulls you close and holds you there?
-then it’s love.
Do you accept their faults because they`re a part of who they are?
-then it’s love.
Are you attracted to others, but stay with them faithfully without regret?
-then it’s love.
Would you then give them your heart, your life, your death?
Would you?

Mother's Day lunch :)
Jwa's 20th :)
"For you, there'll be no more crying,
For you, the sun will be shining,
And I feel that when I'm with you,
It's alright, I know it's right
To you, I'll give the world
to you, I'll never be cold
'Cause I feel that when I'm with you,
It's alright, I know it's right.
And the songbirds are singing,
Like they know the score,
And I love you, I love you, I love you,
Like never before.
And I wish you all the love in the world,
But most of all, I wish it from myself.
And the songbirds keep singing,
Like they know the score,
And I love you, I love you, I love you,
Like never before, like never before."
For you, the sun will be shining,
And I feel that when I'm with you,

Can someone be in love yet, is cynical towards it? Seems unlikely.. till you meet me. A living, breathing example.
Tabik spring lah to anyone yang nak kahwin sangat/ dah kahwin.
Or am I just really a bitter person inside? I hate knowing how love can make you blind, make you do the most stupid things, tear your heart, and still be one of the best feelings you could ever experience. Perhaps, I'm being unkind to love. Perhaps, the thing I detest is on the matter of romance and relationships. Man, how can people get married, or are dreaming to? Because honestly, I don't see myself bowing my head in shyness upon listening to the man during solemnization anytime soon. Maybe the time will come, maybe it won't. Right now for sure, I'm not holding my breath waiting for it.
Tabik spring lah to anyone yang nak kahwin sangat/ dah kahwin.

I know Kak Fynn (ceh ceh can "kakak-kakak" now :p) wrote this song for her dear husband and is generally meant for married couples, but I can't help to think of my family when I listen to it.
I thought I was the only one who welled up when she sang during our seminar, but my fellow mates cried as well! It's so honest and raw, even the coldest of hearts will warm up..

simple pleasures

- To dry your hair by sitting in front of a fan and start to imagine you're in a music video.
- To be reminded that you are loved, always.
- To have that last piece of food, any food.
- To watch an oh-so-cute kitten rolling around and falling asleep.
- Exchanging banter with your father and sister.
- To cry in your doa after praying. Haven't felt so close to Him in quite awhile.
- To have people evaluate your presentation and to find out that most of them are encouraging and positive.
- Laughing at and with your sister for screaming like crazy as if she saw a ghost when she really saw a tiny, innocent frog.
- To eat ice-cream after meals.
- To have the ice-cream containing only 60 calories, so no guilt trips.
- To see a Poslaju package after a long day of studying/ assignments.
- To see smiles of friends.
- The victorious feeling after completing an assignment.
- To catch someone looking at you/ checking you out.
- To laugh with your Atuk over silly people on tv.
- To discover you half-memorized the Yaasin after two years of reciting them every week because you know what verse comes after the other, though not often.
- To actually have the time to recite the Quran after Maghrib prayers.
- To hear your parents laugh.

One thing I've noticed on my FeedJit thingamajig down there (which I personally think has little purpose but it's fun to know which country my visitors come from) is that my blog posts in March last year are almost always among the highest hits. So out of curiosity, I checked them out to see what's the fuss about. I do clearly remember significant events that happened that time but they were not good ones so that couldn't possibly be it..
I read each one and found the answer. There were two posts which I posted a lot of celebrity pictures; hence my blog would probably come out in their Google search of that certain celebrity. But other than finding my answer, I found something else that's interesting. There's a post where I mentioned Amer and we weren't together at the time. Okay I know this doesn't matter much, but I find it funny! Fate does work in strange ways. Here's an excerpt: (okay actually the whole post)
"Alhamdulillah, today's Bel meeting went well. Really well, as Mdm Marina said we were all good. "Improved a lot from the first meeting. I've nothing else to comment," she said, with a smile on her face. Yeay for us eight!
Thank you guys; Aint no Ruqqie yaw, Nasty Nadia, Aina Banana, Mary Celery, Yana Boleh, Far Inspirasi, and Mr. Nabil, for all the help, your sacrifices and the constructive criticisms and comments. It was nerve-wrecking but we've made it!
Yes yes I know, you're probably thinking, Ala meeting Bel je pun, but it really meant something to me.
Oh and Gamelan test went well too! I was practically the last one! hahaha but it helped because I wasn't so nervous. Though Amir and the boys just had to stay and watch. takpe takpe. hehe
Today made me a whole lot better since Monday. But honestly, these two happy events couldn't quite redeem the bad grade I got for my Literature paper. Oh Mr. Kieran, why why whyyyyyy?
hmph. :("

Hahahaha see? I even wrote his name with an "i", not "e" like I do now. Yeah, detik-detik permulaan bermula dengan kelas gamelan. And I initially didn't even think of joining! I was so sure to join Taekwondo, but changed my mind at the last minute. Tengok-tengok, dia pun join juga. And the rest is history :p
However, re-reading my March '09 posts doesn't exactly bring back fond memories. I clearly remember what happened during this month and to be honest, I live everyday trying to forget it. But I don't think about it so much anymore, because I am happy now and I think I will be for some time. I have some tips to share with you, and I haven't shared any in a looong time. Specially inspired by this post.
- If you are with a person who makes you feel bad about yourself (regardless a friend or a boyfriend/ girlfriend), who makes you do things you don't want to, please please please do not think think twice of walking away. He/ she is not worth your time.
- If you find it hard to do so, and start to blame yourself for the things you are not at fault, STOP THINKING AND JUST LEAVE. That person is slowly succeeding in emotionally abusing you.
- If you're hurt, think of it as a good hurt. Like ripping off a band-aid (Eustace from Narnia told us this).
- If he or she starts to beg and make promises, but hardly ever keep it, do not give them the benefit of the doubt because THEIR PROMISES ARE JUST LIES. They do it once, twice, thrice, and I am positive they will do it again. And if you're weak, you'll just stay and take the heat.
- If you find something/ someone who your heart says is sincere, is kind, don't be scared to take that leap of faith. How do you know this? You'll just know.
- If you have doubts in someone from the get-go, do not proceed. Slowly take a step back and walk the other way. You won't lose anything.
- Emotional, verbal, physical and sexual abuses should not be experienced by anyone, especially not intelligent, vivacious girls who become weak and stupid because of ill-treatment by irresponsible people. It happened to me, and I can't let this happen to anyone, especially my family and friends.
Looking back at my old posts makes me feel like I've really changed. I don't write much on personal emotions anymore. I've tried to be distant in my posts as I possibly can and I think I've done it. But honestly, I don't feel like this blog is truly "me" of late. I'll try to make it "me" as possible, so that I don't feel like reading a stranger's blog. But it sure does evoke something in myself, retracing my steps here in Runningwithscissors tonight, because I think I've just shared with you the worst period of my life. And that my readers, has pretty much left me feeling naked. And so out there. And I am a very shy person. So...goodnight. Salam!

Assalamualaikum, heya people! I haven't updated in a loong while and I really, really miss writing. I used to write a lot; poems lah, lists lah, guess I just got really uninspired by anything these days. This cannot go on for long though, if not, I'll day dream in this "honeymoon" period forever. The situation's really serious. I didn't even bother to check out my results last night, because my supervisor had previously told me I'd unofficially passed my practicum. So berlagak right? Can't believe I stooped down to this level. But anyway, alhamdulillah I did pass, although I didn't attain 4.0 GPA like some of my friends did, but I was close. Really, really close. Nevertheless, I am grateful :)
Okay stop babbling and start updating!
What I've been up to:
- Went to Korea for the 3rd time, and Seoul is still the same cool, amazing city when I last left it. Walked around, shopped a lot, fell in love. I want to go again!
- Constructed a blog shop with Amer. I'm slowly making profit and I'm happy! Thank goodness the post office is a stone's throw away from my house so I have it quite easy. Now I'm just worried I won't have any clothes to sell anymore! (Eh ceh, cakap macam ramai orang beli je..)
- Gym sessions still up and running, though no changes are seen on my physique. But honestly, I think I'm more fit now. I don't feel so tired after jogging anymore :) I used to huff and puff like mad. There were even people asking me whether I have asthma, and I don't!
- Gym sessions also give me the opportunity to hang out with my girlies, Banana and Celery regularly, as opposed to two or three times per semester break! Why didn't we think of this before?
- Spending as much time as I possibly can on tv series that are accessible online. Still religiously addicted to TVD and Glee every week and I plan to keep up with them until the end of the year :p
- Still finding my disposition to start AE. (Failing miserably every week.)
It's so hard to type out #6 there. Maybe.. I should kick it off right this instant. This holiday is rapidly moving and I can't waste one more second of it. Toodles!

“Perhaps we don’t like what we see: our hips, our loss of hair, our shoe size, our dimples, our knuckles too big, our eating habits, our disposition. We have disclosed these things in secret, likes and dislikes, behind doors with locks, our lonely rooms, our messy desks, our empty hearts, our sudden bursts of energy, our sudden bouts of depression. Don’t worry. Put away your mirrors and your beauty magazines and your books on tape. There is someone right here who knows you more than you do, who is making room on the couch, who is fixing a meal, who is putting on your favorite record, who is listening intently to what you have to say, who is standing there with you, face to face, hand to hand, eye to eye, mouth to mouth. There is no space left uncovered. This is where you belong.”

clad in a jersey and gold cardi, while holding a balloon in one hand and reading "I Love Geeks" in another.

Okay, so I've turned out so lame these days that I can't even come up with catchy titles. Oh well, at least it sums up my post he he. Which is on gifts. Birthday gifts.
Mary said the book reminds her of our (me, her, Aina and Amer) Napoleon Dynamite days. Were you in my Creative Writing class? If you were, then you'd probably remember our video "tribute" to the mentioned character hahahahahahaha. I've never self-proclaimed myself as a geek before, but I really think there's a little geekiness in every one; even the coolest person alive.
Well, this book is on dating a geek, and while I'd never thought of Amer as one, the book (and Mary) made me realize that yup, we two people are geeky. After skimming the book, I've concluded that me and Amer are somewhere in between the comic book and graphic novel, film and tv and science fiction and fantasy kind. Cool stuff huh? Thank you Mary :)
Aina, the ever so chic friend of mine, gave me a pretty gold cardigan! I love it. I'm going to wear it next time I see you. So cepat set up a buka date hehehehehe.
(oh sorry about the awkward pose. Is it even a pose? It was hard to hold up the cardigan and press "capture" at the same time.)
The cute balloon is from my practicum friends. I really, really appreciated it as they could find the time to actually buy something for me because they were busy with students and settling observations and such. Going to miss them a lot!
Okay this isn't a birthday present; just one of the lovely things sent from a football fanatic boyfriend. Thank you :)
(It states "Nashrah" and the number "21" at the back. It's the Korean team jersey, which I pretended to be familiar with.)
I'm spoiled rotten on one day of every year and I'm grateful for the people who are responsible for it. Thank you ! xx

He sang me this song a couple of times. I think it's really cute and sweet when a guy sings, regardless whether he misses a note or the pitch isn't right. If a guy sings for you, he's fallen hard. Either that, or he sweet sings his way into another agenda involving you, which most of the time, equals to bad intention. But in my case, I think, I am a tremendously lucky girl.
