poor peepers
I miss looking through things and people through plastic. Yes, literally. I miss wearing contacts that is :/
If you're observant enough of your surroundings, particularly me heee, you can see that I have been spectacles-less (he he) for awhile now and I'm used to it already. But yes, when you're experiencing bad tudung day, and your glasses will worsen it, you'd wish you could wear contacts.
It isn't a matter of saving money to not buy them or my parents not allowing it (I have been wearing contacts since I was 14!), but it's the matter of health :( Of my sepet peepers :(
When I was 14 until 21 years of age, I never had a problem wearing them. Yes, they were occasionally some discomfort because of dryness, because I couldn't resist playing with my cats and forgot to wash my hands after and then I'd go and rub my eyes (I'm allergic), or an eyelash caught itself in my contacts, but that was it. Other than that, I had no problem. But about last year, I mistakenly used a normal saline solution to wash my contacts instead of a multi-purpose solution, which is really effective in getting rid of the dirt and germs. After a week or so, my right eye got irritated very easily; it would turn red and became swollen, so I stopped.
My optometrist told me that my cornea was affected :s It was abraded :( At that moment, all I could think of was I could go blind if I continued wearing them! But my optometrist said to just give my eyes two weeks to rest and I could continue on wearing contacts again. I followed her advice and wore only glasses and after two weeks, my eyes were cured. Elated, I wore my contacts again.
Unfortunately though, it recurred again. And I really do not know how and why it happened because after acting on my optometrist's advice, I really took care of my contacts; washed them properly, regularly washed the container, cleaned my eyes thoroughly before putting them on, kept it in my room (I read that if you keep your contacts in the bathroom, they will be affected with germs very, very easily and the thought of germs all over my contacts made me shiver) but all those efforts were FRUITLESS. Why I ask you whyyyy.
However, I do occasionally wear them. BUT I usually could not wear them again the next day. My right eye (this is perplexing too. It is always the RIGHT eye that will be affected) would get red and watery and I had to take them out. Eventually, I got very fed up that I stopped wearing them altogether.
But I really do miss wearing them. I miss not having the feeling of something on my nose. I miss wearing eye makeup. Don't get me wrong, I do wear makeup with glasses on, a bit of eyeliner, shadow and stuff, but because of the fact there's something covering my eyes, I don't bother anymore. I miss having the ease of performing ablution at the faculty's toilet with clear vision throughout instead of Wear glasses, Take off glasses, Done with wuduk, Blurry blurry now where's that specs of mine, Wearing tudung while looking at the mirror but can't clearly see because the glasses will be in the way when wearing tudung, and can only see myself clearly after putting on everything. What if I had put on my tudung inside out, or it looks so cacat, people would snicker? (Oklah girls are not that mean..) But ughhh, I just don't like it! Do you get my situation here? :s
So probably, I'm going to go see my optometrist tomorrow and really solve this problem. I love my glasses, but I miss my affair with contacts :(
p.s: Have you experienced the same problem as me? Do share! :s
3 tissues:
Ohh I memang prasan yg u pakai spek sekarang tapi I ingat sbb u nak sama ngan amir heee. :P
The same prob? Well, sorta. I cant stand wearing contacts too long because my eyes dry up easily. Just like my skin hehe. So the discomfort makes me only wear contacts when I really think I wanna show my eyes.
But then again, I prefer glasses more because they cover my dark circles (I have very intense dark circles. Its genetic.)
Anywaaays, nashrah, somehow I think if you really are comfortable without glasses, like permanently, maybe you could do lasik surgery. My friend has hers once but it didnt stay long because she got rabun again a few years later. But then, its worth a try if you're ready to take care of your eyes and all. Ask your optometrist about it and try do some research about it. Good luck! :)
heee takdela hahaha. amer pun dah syok pakai contacts :p tp now tak pakai sbb tak beli :p hehe. huu 2laa, i have considered doing lasik tau, but only when i could afford it myself. its abt rm2000 plus right for 1 eye? thats a lot :s i think im just gonna stick to glasses for the time being. tp azie, i x pnah nmpk ur dark circles! i think u have really good skin, and i realy do mean this! :D thanks Azie! :D
i will never go out with my spec on..if i got eye sore or anything that restrain me from wearing it lenses...i dare bring the spec with me..and only wear it if theres sumthing important for me to view...like the screen in lecture hall or classroom..other than dat...i rather go blur walking...well i still can see my way...:p
